These Terms of Use govern your use of Carousel, a photo slideshow and screen saver app for Android and Android TV. By installing, accessing, or using Carousel, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. What Carousel Is
Carousel lets you display photo and video content from sources you choose, including bundled sample media, media you allow Carousel to access on your device or attached storage, photos you upload directly to the TV over your local network, and compatible remote sources you configure, including SMB and Immich.
Carousel does not require a user account and does not operate a developer-run cloud service for storing your content.
2. License
Subject to these Terms, you are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Carousel for your personal, non-commercial use on devices you own or control, in accordance with these Terms and any rules that apply through the store or platform where you obtained the app.
You do not receive ownership of Carousel or any intellectual property rights in the app other than this limited license.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- use Carousel in violation of any law, regulation, or third-party right
- use Carousel to access or display content you do not have the right to use
- interfere with or disrupt the app, related platform services, or other users' use of their own devices
- reverse engineer, modify, redistribute, resell, or create derivative works from Carousel except where applicable law does not allow that restriction
- use the app in a way that attempts to bypass platform billing, licensing, or security controls
4. Your Content, Sources, and Setup
You are responsible for the content you choose to display through Carousel, the devices, browsers, phones, computers, services, and networks you connect, and confirming that your source configuration, device settings, permissions, and network environment are correct and safe for your setup.
If you configure remote sources such as SMB or Immich, you are responsible for the security and correctness of those services, credentials, folders, albums, permissions, and network exposure.
If you use the Upload source, you are responsible for the photos and metadata uploaded to the TV, for using the temporary management page only on trusted local networks, for sharing its link only with trusted people on that network, and for deleting uploaded photos or albums you no longer want stored on the TV. Carousel is not a backup service and does not store the original full-size uploaded files for you.
Some features may require you to grant Android permissions, enable device settings, or change system behavior. If you choose to do that, you do so at your own risk.
5. Third-Party Services and Platform Dependencies
Carousel relies on Android, Android TV, device manufacturers, Google Play, geocoding providers, browsers used for local uploads, local networks, and any local or remote media services you choose to connect, including SMB and Immich.
Those third-party services are outside our control and may change, fail, impose their own terms, or become unavailable at any time. Carousel does not guarantee continued compatibility with every TV, Android build, media service, network share, or remote server.
Your use of third-party services through Carousel may also be governed by those third parties' own terms, privacy policies, and technical limits.
6. Paid Features
Carousel may offer paid features through Google Play, including subscriptions, trial offers, or a lifetime unlock.
If you make a purchase through Google Play, payment processing is handled by Google Play, and pricing, taxes, billing timing, renewals, cancellations, restore flows, and refund eligibility are governed by Google Play and your Google account settings.
We may change, replace, or discontinue paid plans or features in future versions of the app, subject to applicable law and platform rules.
7. Updates, Availability, and Changes
Carousel may change over time. We may release updates, modify features, add or remove integrations, or discontinue some functionality.
We do not guarantee that every feature or integration will always remain available, or that the app will work on every device, firmware version, network environment, or content source.
8. Suspension and Termination
These Terms apply for as long as you use Carousel.
Your right to use the app ends automatically if you violate these Terms. You may also stop using Carousel at any time by uninstalling it.
Because Carousel does not require a user account, termination generally means ending your license to use the app and discontinuing access or updates where permitted by platform rules and applicable law.
9. Warranty Disclaimer
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Carousel is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, quiet enjoyment, accuracy, availability, and compatibility.
We do not warrant that Carousel will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or compatible with your specific TV, Android device, browser, storage, local upload flow, network, remote source, permissions configuration, or system settings. We do not warrant that the app will prevent data loss, configuration issues, device instability, playback issues, or service interruptions.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Carousel and its developer will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, use, data, content, settings, backups, or device functionality, arising out of or related to your use of or inability to use the app.
This includes, without limitation, claims based on TV or device malfunction, instability, slowdown, or unexpected behavior; failed setup, failed pairing, failed remote-source access, or failed permission flows; loss, corruption, inaccessibility, or deletion of media, uploaded files, metadata, settings, or cached files; interruptions involving Android, Google Play, SMB, Immich, geocoding, attached storage, network services, or device firmware; and changes you make to developer options, ADB, screen saver settings, permissions, storage access, local upload management, or other device configuration in connection with the app.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, if Carousel or its developer is found liable for any claim arising out of or related to the app, the total liability will not exceed the amount you paid, if any, through Google Play for Carousel or the specific paid feature giving rise to the claim in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers or limitations, so some parts of this section may not apply to you. In those cases, these Terms apply to the maximum extent allowed by applicable law.
11. Mandatory Legal Rights
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any rights or remedies that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we may update the effective date and make the revised Terms available through the app, the app listing, or the hosted legal page.
Your continued use of Carousel after updated Terms become effective means you accept the revised Terms.
